A Conversation with Logan 9.7.10

Logan: (upon seeing a woman in a wedding dress) Momma did you wear a dress like that one time and dance with me?

Me: No honey.

Logan: Why not?

Me: Well, honey, that's a wedding dress and Mommy's don't marry their sons."

Logan: Why?

Me: Well, one day you're going to meet a very lucky girl and you are going to love her very much and you will wear a fancy suit and she will wear a pretty dress and you will get married and be very happy.

Logan: But Momma I love you best of all, so it's alright, right?

Me: (as my heart is absolutely melting) Yes, honey, it's alright! ;o)

Simply one of those Mom moments that I'll remember forever! Life is so good when you're 4 year old son loves you best of all.

The Fair Part II 8.30.10

Piglets...so sweet. At the other end of the barn, there were more and they were only 2 days old.
This Nubian was content to have Shane and Mom pet her for hours.

Just as we were leaving the goat barn, we came across a Toggenburg that was just talking up a storm and Logan thought it was hilarious. This was a picture of his reaction when she started talking. ;o)

Delicious snow cones for the boys.

Even though the carny gave Logan about twice as many rings as we paid for, he still didn't get one around those darn ducks...it's rigged I say!

There were just so many great animal pictures so I had to throw some more in. :o)

Fair food...oh....so....good!

Off to the fair we go! Growing up this was my favorite fair and this year I was really excited to go and bring Logan since they were having a dinosaur exhibit! Needless to say, it did not disappoint. In fact, they were so big and loud and lifelike that Logan refused to go anywhere near the meateaters! Luckily we convinced him to sneak around them so that he could get to the other side and participate in all the kid activities they had to offer. So, after the dino exhibit it was off to the horses and then a delicious fair lunch...we had chicken nuggets, fries, pizza, taco salad, corndogs, and gyros (that was between five of us, so we weren't that piggy). So good! Then it was off to all the animal barns. Logan and Shane are both such animal lovers that they could have spent hours just hanging with the animals and of course Kim, Mom, and I are right there with them. Next it was time for dessert and then a couple games and then we were off. Because I was still getting over my ridiculous accident, I told the gang that we probably should only stay for a couple hours...ummm, yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. FIVE hours later, we start to head home. What can I say...that dang fair just lures me in every time. I can't wait for next year. Life is good.

Ooops 8.28.10

Not the most flattering picture of me...I'm swollen dammit!
Close up of the stitches.

Okay, so for the most part, this blog is all about Logan. But I couldn't not blog about my little mishap. For the past couple years I had been wanting to get this tattoo, the Chinese characters for faith, hope, and love. Well, a few weeks back Becky and I started talking about tattoo's and how she wanted one too. Then we got Kara in on it as well and we planned a Friday night adventure...we were all getting tattoos, then dinner and a night to remember. So, the girls decided that since I had already gotten a tattoo before, I should be the one to go first. So, I show Saul (our great tattoo guy) what I want and where I want it and we begin. He had me on a bar stool and started in the middle of my back and started working his way up. Well he finished the first one in what felt like a matter of seconds. Then he started in on the second symbol and it hurt just a hair bit more. Then I started to feel a little clammy and sick to my stomache and the next thing I know, I'm waking up on the floor of the tattoo parlor with Saul holding me and Becky on the phone with 911. See, when I passed out I landed hard, on my head on the concrete floor. So, the EMT's arrive and through my nauseous haze I realized they were the best looking guys, umm, ever, so I'm not embarrassed or anything. Anyway, turns out I was fine except for the fact that I had split my head open and was going to have to go to the emergency room and get stitches. A couple hours and 8 stitches later, I was on my way. Poor Becky and Kara, this was definitely not the night we had in mind. Now I just have to decide if I want to go back and get it finished. Eeesck!!!! Life is good?

Playdate at Karen's 8.25.10

The Great Bubbltini, Logan.

A rare moment of close sharing between two very strong minded 4 year olds. ;o)

This afternoon Karen invited Logan and I to come over for a playdate. While we were there her neighbor, Tawnya came by with her two girls Lake and Skye. Skye is going to be in Logan's preschool class so it was great to meet her before the first day. And as it turns out, I went to school and 4-H with Skye's dad...such a small world. It was a very fun afternoon of outdoor activites, including bubbles and ball. Karen fixed us a great lunch and then it was time to head home for a nap. Life is good.

Football 8.21.10

The boys getting their instuctions.
Tommy is number 2!!

Proud parents, Anne and Darrick.

A little coloring to pass the time.

And playing in the dirt...good thing he didn't get that dirty. ;o)

After the Farmer's Market, we came home for a little nappers and then it was off to watch Tommy play some football in a jamboree. I love how Anne and Darrick always let us know if Tommy is playing near us. It's fun to be able to watch him play, although they are braver than I am. I couldn't imagine watching Logan get tackled. Eeesck. Anyway, it was a great event. Tommy did well and Logan and Brady had fun coloring and playing in the dirt. Afterwards, we all came back here for some food and fun. Thanks guys for a great day. Life is good.

Farmer's Market 8.21.10

The boys thought this huge ship was just awesome.
So many cookies, so limited by the Momma's.
Brett enjoying the day.

Karen and the boys purchasing an o so delicious cookie!

Yea, for the cool Farmer's Market!

Another summer day, another great adventure. Today it was checking out a Farmer's Market that Karen had heard great things about. It was great. Right by the water, lots of booths, lots of people, and everything handmade and local. I think if I lived closer I would go all the time. As it was, the boys had a blast looking at all the stuff. Logan loved the cat booth and the cookies the best. :-) Thanks Karen for this great idea. Life is good.

Island Fun 8.19.10

Karen's attempt to ensure her stocks in Starbucks continue to rise over the years! ;o) Just kidding, I set my empty coffee on the ground and Brett was nice enough to pick it up for me.
The boys on the boat looking for a jellyfish.

If this kid doesn't have the good life, I don't know who does.

Don't ya just love Craig's facial expression in this one...almost looks like he landed on the tree all wrong. :o)

My ever so happy water dog!!!

Logan and I got a lovely invitation to go out to the island to play with Karen, Craig, Brett, Bill, and Jolene. We brought Norman as well and man was he a happy camper. It was a little chilly, but that didn't stop us from spending some quality time at the beach, Norm even went for a swim. :o) Then it was a delicious dinner of freshly caught crab, salad, bread, and wine. All eaten outside of course!! Oh so good. It was a lovely way to spend a lazy summer day. We need to get out there more often. {Hint, hint Karen!!} ;o) Life is good!

More Fun 8.20.10

It's our Supermen!!!!

This evening Logan and I were invited over to Jonathan and Kara's for dinner and good times. Jonathan made us a fabulous dinner, the kids played really, really well together, and they helped me make some more decisions when it came to getting my new tattoo. So besides substaining a substantial burn (just kidding guys), it was another great evening with great friends. Life is good.

Fun with Family 8.17.10

Angel, Logan, and Jazz talkin' blackberries.
Angel all ready for a swim.

Logan and Jazz

Cousins!!

We had a playdate today with my cousin Shellie, her husband Todd, and their two little girls, Jazzy and Angel. Logan and Jazzy are only 9 months apart and usually play together quite well. The one thing we have to remind both of them is that Jazzy is a toucher, a hugger, a cuddler; whereas Logan is usually not, so we have to remind both of them to respect each other's space. Today was great. Todd and Shellie live by all these blackberry bushes, so the kids picked lots of berries, played with waterguns, and in the pool; all the while, Todd and Shellie and I had a chance to catch up. They used to live right next to Mom and Dad so we saw them much more often. I miss that. I need to remember to make an effort to see them more because we always have such fun together. Thanks Todd and Shellie for a wonderful afternoon. Life is good.

More Animals 8.11.10

Logan and I watching the adorable seals...
...and here they are, bobbing up and down. Logan loved this.

Shane's face in this picture is priceless...we all really fell in love with the walrus.

These two sea otters just held onto each other and cuddled the entire time we were there...so sweet.

Mom, Kim, and kind of Shane at the entrance to the park.

Zoo and Aquarium 8.11.10

I do love the elephants.
There were 9 week old tiger cubs. So cute!

Kim and Shane on their camel...it was so cool, although I couldn't imagine that being my everyday mode of transportation. :o)

The boys in a replica of a Great White jaw.

Their were all these great costumes to play with; the kids had a ball.

On our summer to do list was to head to The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. I had heard about this place for years, but had never been. So, Kim, Shane, Logan, Mom, and I loaded up and headed down. The drive wasn't bad at all, but then we couldn't find a place to park for the life of us. It really was a small parking lot when you consider how big the place is. It was only later that we found out that the park was free that day to everyone who lived in the county. Yikes!!! Once we heard that, I feared we were in for a very crowded day, but it wasn't really that bad {once we found, er, made a parking space}. I have to say, overall it was a great place. The animals were so accessible and they had camel rides {another item checked off my bucket list}. They also had a great play area for the kids. And of course, we all walked out of there with some great souviners. I have to say, I think the highlight of the day was seeing the massive walrus. And he was just a ham, swimming right up to the glass and giving us all a good show!! What a fun animal adventure we had. Life is good.

Nana and Grandpa's 8.10.10

It's such a shame that my son doesn't like dogs. ;o)

Logan and Nana

Our great summer day just kept getting better. After pottery and the park, Logan and I headed up to Nana and Grandpa's for dinner. Ron and Dianne built their retirement home a few years back and I have to say, they did a beautiful job. The house itself is fantastic, but they really took advantage of the natural area around them and their landscaping is so beautiful, just very natural and quite a treat for a little boy to play around. They also put in two ponds, so looking for the fishies is a must when we go over for a visit. As always, the food was delicious (salmon and cob on the corn), the conversation was fabulous, and the evening was delightful. It seems I always walk away from spending time with these wonderful people richer and happier. If that's not good the equation for a good friendship, I don't know what is. Thanks Ron and Dianne. Life is good.
