Happy Birthday Kim 4.10.11

In celebration of my dear sister's birthday, Papa and Grandma hosted a lovely gathering at their place complete with food, presents, great company, and to top it all off, pudding in a cloud! This is a dessert that we grew up eating and one that I absolutely adore. All it is is chocolate pudding with coolwhip, but it couldn't be more heavenly. I have so many memories of eating this dessert after bath time watching "The Cosby Show" with my whole family. I was thrilled for Logan to get to try it {even in the same green dishes that Mom served them to us in when we were kids}. We had a lovely day celebrating with Kim. Happy Birthday Kim and may this be your best year yet! Life is good.

Happy Birthday Karen 4.8.11

I was lucky enough to get a chance to celebrate with Karen for her birthday twice today! First, I had arranged with her to be kid free for a couple hours this afternoon for some grown-up fun. Some time ago, Karen and I along with Mom and Kim had gone and see "Eat. Pray. Love" and we all loved it. So, I decided to do a little take off from that movie title and told Karen it was time to "Drink. Pray. Laugh." After letting her open her gift {the movie on dvd of course}, I told her we were going gambling baby!!! So I took her to a nearby casino where we did just that. I had never been to this particular casino before and I have to say it was a hoot! Karen and I most definitely got a couple hours of great entertainment out of it and while I didn't do so hot, the birthday girl fared much better!! Such fun! Then that evening Karen invited me over to her place for a little Strawberry Shortcake birthday bash. What a lovely way to spend my darling friend's birthday! Happy Birthday Karen and may this year bring you much happiness! Life is good.

My Goofball 4.6.11

Some of my favorite moments with Logan come from just watching him be, well, him. He's definitely reached the "watch me be goofy on purpose" stage and he seriously cracks me up. In fact, just the other night, after I had tucked him in and thought he was good to go for the night, he came running out of his room in just his underwear as he has decided that is how he likes to sleep these days and announced, "Mama, want to see what I learned?" So I say sure, and he proceeds to do the whole make a fart noise with your hand under your armpit maneuver. Cracked me up! Oh, and the look of pride on his face...priceless! Anyway, looks like I have a bit of a goofball on my hands and I couldn't be happier about it! Life is good.

A Little Visit 4.5.11

After we got the bed delivered, Logan and I headed to Papa and Grandma's house to visit with them and to especially see Shaneo. Unfortunately, Logan and Shane didn't have the same Spring Break this year, so we weren't able to plan any fun activities together, but we still wanted to try to get in some good cousin time. Today, Papa and Grandma had picked Shaneo up from school and he was going to be hanging out at their place until his soccer game, so we thought we better head down and keep them all company! It was a pretty short visit, but we made the most of it and as always, Logan just couldn't get enough of Shane. So sweet. Life is good.

A New Bed 4.5.11

From this...
...to this!

One of the tasks I wanted to accomplish over Spring Break was to get Logan a new bed. It was definitely time, as he was getting a little long for his toddler bed, besides, he's not a toddler anymore. {sniff} So, on Sunday we went to our local Sleep Country USA {can't you just hear the commercial jingle} because really, why buy a mattress anywhere else? The back of Logan's crib turns into a headboard for a double size bed, so we just skipped the twin size bed stage and jumped right in with a double. I think {hope} it's going to work out well. So we ordered the bed on Sunday and two very nice delivery men brought it today and got it all set up. I tell ya, to go from a toddler bed to a double was quite the leap, but it fit great in his room and can I just tell you how much more comfortable reading bedtime stories is going to be for me?!?!? :o) Logan is very excited to sleep in his new big boy bed tonight. Now if only I can stop worrying about him falling out! :o) Life is so good with a great mattress.

Spring Break Begins 4.4.11

Logan and Craig very excited about coloring.
Brett was very eager to go exploring. :o)

Spring Break is here!!!! Woohoo! A much needed break from teaching and so much needed quality time with Logan. As I was planning some fun days for Logan and I during this ever-so-short week off, I thought a great way to start our week was a playdate with Karen and the boys, complete with breakfast out to one of our favorite places. So, with our friends 100% on board, we met on a very rainy Monday morning for a huge breakfast, then hit Starbucks afterwards, and then Karen and the boys came to our house for a playdate. Eventhough the weather wasn't that nice {nothing new about that these days} it was a fantastic way to begin our Spring Break! Thanks Karen, Craig, and Brett for a very fun morning. Life is good.

Baby Hats 3.27.11

I was doing a little cleaning and came across Logan's baby box...where I have a few precious items from when he was a new born. In that box are the two hats that Logan got from the hospital the day he was born. Both just make my heart melt. As I'm looking over these adorable items, in comes my 5 year old and asks me what those are. When I tell him, he says he wants to see if they still fit. Well, lo and behold, they still do. Now, it's not like they look good or anything, but I was amazed that he could get these tiny little hats on his 5 year old head. What a goof. It was really sweet though, telling him about his birth and showing him all the little items that I hold so dear from those first few days. Life is good.
